Schecter GWAR Flattus Maximus

Yes, OK, it does look very strange, but the Schecter Gwar Guitar is great!

The Schecter Flattus Maximus has arrived in the UK.  Flattus Maximus, real name Corey Smoot, has teamed up with Schecter do design his own artist electric guitar.

A 3-piece set mahogany neck with Schecter’s Ultra Access neck joint allows completely effortless shredability. The rosewood fretboard sports 24 extra-jumbo frets, stylized cross inlays and the GWAR chaos wheel inlaid at the 12th fret.

The Schecter GWAR Flattus Maximus is loaded with a single EMG-81 active humbucker in the bridge position that is controlled with a volume knob and a kill on/off switch. Grover tuning machines with an Original Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo bridge allow for the most unreal tremolo effects ever, as well as total tuning stability and tonal sustain.

Schecter Damien Elite Series guitars coming soon

Schecter Damien Elite Series guitars coming soon

Schecter Guitars has unleashed yet another onslaught with the new Damien Elite series. Spending time at NAMM is a great way to leave the trappings of domestication behind and revel in the pure unadulterated boyhood joy of gear, gear and more gear! For me this time around, it was all about Schecter and their ginormous offerings and might I add, eclecticism and affordability. The prevailing theory assumes that Schecter only makes ‘metal-y’ guitars, with the Hellraiser, Omen and now, the Damiens. Although misguided in belief, they DO make a wide variety of ‘cool’ and are definitely worth checking out.

However, my concern is for all things metal, destructive, brutal and uncontrollably out of hand. Enter Damien Elite Solo-6.

Tackling the single cut body style is no easy feat for many manufacturers as the ’shape’ is so similar to a Les Paul, but that’s where it all ends for those looking to mire the Damien by such a generalisation. This beast kills, not with a WMD, but by which it came. Loaded to the nines with stunning appointments, it starts off a soon as you gaze into the color, which reminds me of a hot rodded Chevelle in a Dark Metallic Blue. Kicking into high gear, the double humbucking EMG’s 81/85’s delivery pure sonic tonality with an often overlooked ability to coil tap  the bucks into a chimey stratty tone, all jangly and ready to spank. Deftly ratcheting up the ante, Schecter didn’t stop where others do, a TonePros TOM bridge with String-Thru body design takes advantage of a little known fact about guitars and their strings. When a string takes a sharp turn as it would with a string thru or over a wrap around bridge, it makes the tension tighter which delivers more tone, attack and sustain! Did ya know that? The Set Neck on this Mahogany bodied, 24X Jumbo fret on Rosewood is easy as apple pie to hit the high notes with Schecter’s Ultra Access neck joint. A GraphTech TUSQ nut and Schecter’s locking tuners keep it all in tune. If you’re a metal enthused shredder who wants awesomeness without paying big, than this git will get your gut! and, to make it even better, you can get Schecter guitars from Camden Sounds, your London guitar shop.

The Schecter Damien Elite series features three body stylings, the C-1, the Solo-6 and the Tempest with either 6, 7 or 8 strings and comes in a color choice of Dark Metallic Blue (DMB), Metallic Black (MBK) or Crimson Red (CRED).
